The former President of the United States is set to launch his first and personal social media app named ‘TRUTH Social’ by end of March 2022.
What is ‘TRUTH Social’ all about?
After the Capitol Hill Riots on January 6 during the electoral results of the 2020 presidential polls, Donald Trump was banned from the microblogging site Twitter and eventually suspended from Facebook.
As per BBC reports, the social media networks were under pressure to ban him owing to his posts that largely promoted inflammatory sentences, insults and peddling outright falsehood.
Trump’s ‘TRUTH Social’ media platform is presented as an alternative to Twitter. He described the platform as “stand up to the tyranny of big tech”. The former president has also accused Big Tech of silencing opposing voices in the U.S.
“We live in a world where the Taliban had a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American President has been silenced forever,” Donald Trump had said, as quoted by BBC.
The TMTG( Trump Media & Technology Group) backed social media platform is a subscription-based, video-on-demand service, featuring “non-woke” entertainment, including news, podcast and more.
What you need to know about the planned launch
As per reports, the ‘TRUTH Social’ app is currently undergoing beta testing and would likely be available for download for Americans by the end of March. Interested users can also preorder TRUTH Social from the Apple app store.
Reportedly, the new social media network has partnered with Rumble, a right-leaning company for cloud services, and with Hive a San Francisco based company that provides content moderation for video, audio, and text.
TMTG CEO, Devin Nunes has promised that the platform will be very “family-friendly”.
“We want this to be a very safe place, and we are focused on making sure any illegal content is not on the site,” He told Fox Business last month.
